01 January 09- 31 January 09. The following summary table and overview of events is a survey of Israeli violations during the period 01 January 2009 to 31 January 2009. The report includes a summary table of events by type throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG), Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD), Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

Modern Constitution are no longer merely a set of legal rules to manage governance but rather an expression of a political philosophy and a program that aims at achieving political , social , and economic objectives that reflect the spirit of constitution and its real intent . Therefore we view constitutions as comprising for the overall general rules while leaving many details for other laws or the general constitutional principles. This applies to the Palestinian Basic Law, particularly since it was drafted for an interim period.

RAMALLAH, Oct 20th, 2008 (AP) — The Palestinian president accused Israel of not protecting Palestinian farmers against settler attacks during the ongoing olive harvest, but Israel's defense minister said Monday his troops are doing the best they can.

against innocent Palestinian Farmers during the Olive Harvesting Season are unacceptable.

Israeli troops called through loudspeakers urging the family to leave the house "before it is destroyed."

Bethlehem, Oct 23, 2008 (Ma'an) - Israeli forces have invaded the West Bank town of Tuqu on Thursday afternoon and threatened to demolish the house of a young Palestinian man who was shot dead after allegedly stabbing two Israelis earlier in a nearby settlement.
Israeli troops called through loudspeakers urging the family to leave the house before it is destroyed. Stone-throwing Palestinians are at this time clashing with Israeli troops who entered the village in 20 vehicles shortly after the stabbing was reported.

October 14, 2008 (NAD-PLO) - The National Campaign against the Apartheid Wall, in cooperation of Palestinian civil society organizations announced that the national campaign for olive harvest will start tomorrow . The coordinator of the campaign Jamal Joma’ said in press conference: “the campaign aimed at supporting the Palestinian farmers while they are working in their fields and protecting them from the continuous attacks by Jewish colonizers, which usually escalate in the olives season, specially in Nablus, Qalqilia, Hebron areas.”.

September 7 , 2008 (NAD-PLO) - The latest update to the PLO's Negotiations Affairs Department factsheet on Palestinian political prisoners being held by Israel is now online in html and PDF formats. No issue highlights Israel’s 40-year denial of Palestinian freedom under military occupation better than that of political prisoners. Palestinians have been subjected to one of the highest rates of incarceration in the world.

August 25 , 2008 (NAD-PLO) - Excerpt: "The PLO’s primary goals in engaging in direct negotiations with Israel are to ensure the fulfillment of Palestinian national rights enshrined in international law, to secure an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and to reach a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace. This will necessitate an end to Israeli occupation andcolonization, fulfilment of the Palestinian right to self-determination through the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the achievement of a just resolution of the refugee issue. The Palestinian state must be politically, economically and territorially viable. This is in the interests of both Israelis and Palestinians".

August 10, 2008 (PMC) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday declared three days of national mourning for the death of Mahmoud Darwish, the internationally-renowned poet and one of the Arab world's greatest poets, known as the heart and tongue of the Palestinian people, who passed away yesterday in a U.S. hospital in Houston, Texas, at the age of 67 after an open-heart surgery two days earlier.

June 16, 2008 (WAFA) - Presidency Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rdeina warned on Monday of continued settlements in occupied Jerusalem, adding that such acts would kill the peace process.
